I spoke yesterday about the United States of America starting to pivot after it became known that the Speaker of the House vote was heavily influenced by former President and current King maker Donald J Trump.

The revelation by McCarthy reaffirms the power that President Trump still wields over all things Republican and America. If I had to guess, I'd say this negotiation and very public embarrassment that Speaker McCarthy just endured will scare off a lot of potential candidates for the 2024 Republican ticket.

Politicians by nature don't like to gamble with their names and careers. One misstep and you're permanently branded a loser or worse (depending on what Trump calls you at a debate). Topically, they and their financiers want assurances of victory and influence before sticking their necks out.

Currently, the only assurance for 2024 is that President Trump still is dictating who became the Speaker of the House and is still polling 40pts+ ahead of everyone else even considering challenging him. Smart money says sit out until 2028 and let the Don have his swan song.
